Industrial Effluent Treatment Process For Waste Water Treatment

The treatment process varies as per the type of effluent generated. Wastewater enters the treatment plant and goes through several processes before the effluent is released to the environment. Industrialeffluent treatment process includes the following stages: *  Preliminary treatment  is aimed at removing the large sized contaminants from waste water. It includes following activities: a. Screening:  This is the first operation carried out in wastewater treatment plants . A screen is a device with uniform openings and its purpose is to remove large floating solids. b. Sedimentation:  It is a physical method to have the solid contaminants get settled at bottom of any container using gravity so as to remove suspended solids from water. c. Grit Chamber:  The wastewater that passes through the grit chamber removes the dense inorganic solids such as gravel, metal   fragments and sand which have made their way into the sewers. Removal of gri...

Extended Aeration Activated Sludge Process Technology For Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)

Image
As the name suggests, it is a modified form of Activated Sludge Treatment system. Extended aeration is a method of sewage treatment using modified activated sludge procedures. Extended aeration agitates all incoming waste in the sludge from a single clarifies. Extended Aeration plants provide a low cost, odor and nuisance-free Sewage Treatment Plant that produces a high degree of treatment. Extended aeration treatment plants are used worldwide to provide simple and effective wastewater treatment . The combined sludge starts with a higher concentration of inert solids than typical secondary sludge and the longer mixing time required for digestion of primary solids in addition to dissolved organic produced sludge requiring greater mixing energy input per unit of waste oxidized. In  extended aeration  process, the raw sewage moves straight to the aeration tank for treatment. The whole process is aerobic. This simplification implies longer aeration time which ha...

Submerged Aerated Fixed Films (SAFF) Technology

Image
One of the cost-effective methods of waste water treatment and sewage management that is primarily used in residential and commercial complexes is Submerged Aerobic Fixed Film Reactor (SAFF). It technology is part of sewage treatment plant (STP) . This technology mainly has three stages that are Primary Settlement, Secondary Treatment and Final Settlement / Clarification. Primary Settlement: Here, larger solids get settled at the bottom of the primary tank and are removed periodically as sludge. Other buoyant material which floats upwards are usually removed by a scraping/screening method. Secondary Treatment: Where the biodegradable Organic Matter is degraded by the biomass on the SAFF media. Final Settlement / Clarification: Where degraded solids are settled out of the biologically treated effluent. Submerged Aerated Fixed Films (SAFF) technology is a process used to reduce the organic loading of residential and commercial sewage / waste water. The process w...
